Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are passed on through sexual contact. Many STIs often don't have any symptoms and some can have life long effects such as infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease or an ectopic pregnancy if they are not caught early enough.
If you have had unprotected sex, you could be at risk from an STI. The only way to protect yourself from getting an STI is to use condoms.
There are a number of locations throughout Torbay and surrounding areas where you can get tested for Sexually Transmitted Infections. The Sexual Medicine Service offers a range of appointment and walk-in sessions at various locations across Torbay.
Most sexually transmitted infections are easily treated with a course of anti-biotics and the sexual medicine service will discuss these options with you.
